Spring Cleaning and Spiritual Cleaning

by Amy Seward

Spring cleaning conjures up a traditional vision, in the sense of shaking out rugs, deep cleaning your entire home and throwing the windows open to let the fresh air inside. But, taking the time for a spiritual cleaning alongside your spring cleaning can let in so much more!

A highly impactful change begins with clearing out the clutter from your home. Clutter not only blocks your mind but blocks energy and quite often leaves those living in clutter feeling eternally “stuck”. They become stuck all areas of life, emotional, physical, financial and spiritual. Even if you do a little bit at a time, clearing out clutter is the one of the quickest and most positive changes you can make in your home.

Once the clutter is cleared, take a closer look at the décor of your home. Does it represent what you want in your life? If your focus is on finding your soulmate and starting a family? If so, you may want to consider having wedding photos of your parents or grandparents as part of your decor. Art work and décor that reflect your dreams and goals help to manifest them. A friend recently added a large sign in her home that simple states “Gather”. She wants to entertain friends more often and this literal focus has already manifested for her in many ways.

By adding a sacred space in your home, you can deepen the spiritual and energetic resonance. Your sacred space can be a place for meditation, a home altar or simply a sanctuary created in the area around your bath tub. Most important is to specify this space as your sacred space and bring in objects that speak to you in this way. Candles, crystals, mala beads or a rosary are all items that symbolize a space where you can go to relax and receive blessings.

Even though I rent my home, I set aside time each year to spring and spiritually clean. You may wonder why I invest this time when I am just going to pack it all up and relocate soon. But the way you treat yourself in your current home could actually help to manifest your next home. The positive energy from creating a deeper connection to the space around you is actually an investment in not only your home, but in yourself. A happy home is a connection to joy and inspiration and attracts into your life more of what you desire. Putting on hold the chance to connect spiritually with your current living arrangement can actually put on hold your chance to connect with the life you really want.

If you are single and wanting to be in a committed relationship, take a look at your bed and the nightstands. Are there two of them? Are they in balance with each other? Studies show that if you tend to keep single items in your home you are not inviting in a mate. Invest in those matching nightstands and two matching lamps. Keep one of the nightstands drawers all empty and make space in your closet for your future mate. These changes create an energetic space for love to transpire and a symbolic affirmation that you are ready and trusting of the universe.

So, take the extra steps this year and focus on spring and spiritual cleaning that will nurture your spirit and manifest positive energy for yourself and your loved ones.
