Interview with Lee Harris, Author of Energy Speaks
You are a channel and an intuitive messenger. How did you come to discover that you had those gifts?
It was a slow process, but I learned in my late teens that I could get information for others – about their lives, and about their journeys. Then the doors blew open when I heard the voice of my guides one morning at the age 23. I heard them so clearly that I began a conversation with them that has lasted for twenty years privately, and for fifteen years publicly. Being able to channel greatly deepened my own intuitive mind, and fast.
What words of encouragement do you have to offer to others who are sensitive and empathic?
Trust yourself and through learning about how you operate and trust how your particular gift manifests. We are all different and gifts can be a curse until we own them and know how to care for who we are. It takes time, but there is a lot more awareness and help out there now than there was even 10 years ago, let alone 20 years ago. These are times that sensitives and empaths can have balanced and happy lives, once they figure out what it is they are here to do on a soul level and how to practice self-care.
Tell us about your spirit guides, who you call the Zs, and how they communicate with you.
I hear them, to the left of my head and a few inches higher and I also feel their presence in my body as well — almost like an aura. We have conversations telepathically and when I channel them for groups or for recordings and they come through me while I close my eyes. I usually make contact with them by placing my focus in their direction or asking them a question. On rare occasions they will unexpectedly ask for my attention with something, but not very often.
Does everyone have spirit guides and the ability to communicate with the other side?
I believe everyone does, if they want to or have a proclivity towards it. Some people are primed for it more than others, but I believe everyone has the ability to contact the greater or higher power that exists all around us, since we are all connected to and a part of it.
Why is channeling important at this time in history?
I feel we are entering a time of demystification and an end of separation where spirituality is concerned. Channeling is beginning to take its place as a regular part of our spiritual wellbeing and toolkit, rather than a special, stigmatized, or fearful experience. Reclaiming the spiritual side of our lives will bring balance to society. A balance we greatly need.
The first chapter of Energy Speaks is called “You are a Lightworker”. What is a lightworker and how can someone tell if they are one?
Lightworkers seek (and cheerlead) spirituality, community, acts of kindness and love, and raising the consciousness of people, places and things. They are people who seek to understand their connection to spirit. Then they use that power to generate more of good, evolution and healing in the world. It doesn’t mean you are a perfect human being, but it does mean you feel a sense of mission around leaving people, places and/or things in a better state than they were when you were first born.
You say in the book that recognizing and owning our personal power is one of the most important steps a lightworker can take. Please explain what you mean by that.
Some lightworkers get trapped in trying to ‘help’ or save others, and don’t pay attention to their own needs or trust that their own personal desires will ALSO be healing for the world if they follow them. Service and responsibility are hallmarks of the lightworker personality, but the shadow side can be giving both of those things without looking after and balancing yourself. The lightworker chapter in the book is all about reclaiming your self and your soul.
What do you most hope readers will take away from your book Energy Speaks?
More love, self-understanding and a remembrance of the power of their soul and that they are here to have a great journey while also having a profound effect on the lives of others.
