Many of life’s greatest pleasures and comforts are always available. Because of that, however, it’s easy to take them for granted and allow temporal upsets and dramas to diminish the joy they bring us. My favorite time of the day is when I put my daughter to bed. No matter how tired I am, I crawl into bed next to her for a few minutes, where I rub her back, smell her hair and squeeze her tight. No matter what is going wrong in my life, I always have those few moments of pure sweetness when I can reconnect with a sense of well-being. Whether they involve loved ones, personal hobbies or spiritual rituals, we all have simple pleasures available to us every day.
