Forget safety. Live where you fear to live. Destroy your reputation. Be notorious.
– Rumi

I have always been an extreme people-pleaser and get profoundly upset whenever someone is unhappy with me. Abraham-Hicks explored this subject at a workshop I attended years ago, and while I don’t remember the question, I do vividly remember Abraham’s answer. It was something like: Every time you worry about what someone else thinks of you, you give your power away. Who cares what they think of you? The important thing is what YOU think of you and that you feel good about yourself, and worrying about others judging you is the opposite of that. What would you do if you no longer cared what people might think? When we look back on our lives at the end of our days, I’m betting we won’t care one bit about our reputations; instead, we’ll be interested in whether we found the will and courage to live big and boldly follow our hearts.
