connectkindness

Miserable people are forever trying to find ways to get even with those who have hurt them or treated them badly. Happy people are forever trying to find ways to get even with those who have loved them or helped them in some way.

We all do it: we get so hung up on something that someone said or did that upset us that we forget all about the kindnesses we are shown each day. Instead of fixating on the worker who helped us with a smile, the stranger who held the door, the family member who did the dishes or the friend who invited us for dinner, we fixate on that one person who was rude, angry, critical or simply self-absorbed. The next time you find yourself obsessing about someone who has upset you, STOP. Think of someone who has been kind to you, and do something to return that kindness. It will make you feel so much better that you may just forget all about whatever had you upset in the first place.
