I was recently asked to join a friend in taking Italian lessons, and while this is something that does appeal to me, my first response was to thank her but explain that I just don’t have the time right now. As soon as I said it, I realized that if taking those lessons was really important to me, then I would make the time to do it. While it’s true that there are many other things that are greater priorities for me right now, this exchange did remind me that our time is ours to use as we desire, and that we are all entirely free to do whatever really calls to us. Many of us constantly set aside the people, passions and pursuits that are most important to us because we believe we don’t have time for them. When we do this day after day and year after year, our lives begin to turn dull, gray, listless and uninspired. Fortunately, we have only to consciously decide to make what we really want a top priority to launch ourselves on an exciting new journey.
