– C. S. Lewis
The harder something is, the more we can be sure that it has something powerful and important to teach us personally. Some of life’s hardest lessons – letting go, saying goodbye, making peace with disappointment, realizing that someone we admire is human and fallible, feeling betrayed by someone we trusted – these are experiences we must all walk through. The good news is that the more we chew on these tough experiences, the softer they become, and the easier they get to swallow. If you’re going through a hard time right now, it’s a sure sign that you’re chewing on something big and important and are nibbling your way toward new wisdom: you are doing just what you came into this life to do, and are learning just what you’ll most benefit from learning.
