raining

Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.
– Lao Tzu

I recently spent a long holiday weekend staring out the window at the cold, rainy weather outside. Everyone around me was grumpy, for our hopes and plans for the day were definitely not panning out. When we long for sunshine, rain brings us down; when there is a drought, we pray for rain. When we’re feeling lonely, we long for company; when people are getting on our nerves, we long for solitude. Even now, I’m working in a cafe, and there is a woman next to me who is endlessly talking at the top of her voice; I wish she would go away, yet just an hour ago, I was eager to be out in the world and surrounded by life and people. We have only to look for the good to find it, and to find the good to feel good. The more we look for reasons to be content, the more our vibration soars, and the more we are able to mold whatever we encounter into reasons to be happy.
