Walking an authentic spiritual path is often a lonely, solitary endeavor. It will take you into territory that people you respect and care about have never seen for themselves or even heard of. They may think you’re weird or crazy, or be frightened by the ways you’re changing, which can cause them to try to censor, control or reject you. You may sometimes have beautiful experiences that totally blow your mind, and feel like there is no one you can share them with. You may sometimes also have experiences that scare the pants off of you, and know no one you can turn to for help. This is how it has always been and probably always will be, for in order to evolve spiritually, we must look less and less to the people around us for help, comfort and guidance, and instead develop a personal, ongoing, sacred/secret relationship with the Divine.
