– Abraham Lincoln
Every once in a while, I open up about my spiritual life to someone I know isn’t into anything like that, and I sense that they think I’m totally out of touch with ‘reality.’ Since some of the experiences I’ve had are really mindblowing, I can’t say I blame them. In fact, I feel bad for people who have never had an amazing spiritual experience, and even worse for those who have but couldn’t trust their own perceptions enough to recognize that something real and special was occurring. We can’t really blame people for calling us crazy for our spiritual beliefs, for if we had never had anything but the most common, mundane sorts of experiences, we’d be skeptical and cynical too. We’re all doing our best to make sense of our own personal course of experience; may we all aim to be kind, respectful, and understanding of each other despite our inevitable differences.
