feelingbad

When you find yourself in a fury, the person you perceive as causing it is your greatest teacher at that moment. That person is teaching you that you have not yet mastered yourself, that you still do not know how to choose peace as that button is being pushed.
– Wayne Dyer

We all have our buttons, by which I mean those sensitive little spots where we are not 100% okay with ourselves, where our faith in our own divine perfection is wobbly and where our trust that everything will be okay has worn thin. For example, someone could call me a bad mother or a bad friend, and I wouldn’t bat an eye, for I know I’m a great mother and a fantastic friend, thank you very much. On the other hand, someone could call me fat, and regardless of how fat or thin I may actually be that day, I might be instantly plunged into a dark well of self-doubt and self-recrimination. They could say that I’m far too sensitive, and I would start beating myself up for not being tougher. When someone upsets us, it may be normal to react unconsciously with anger toward that person or disappointment in ourselves, but if we’re wise, we’ll view our negative emotions as signs that there is something deep inside of us that needs love and healing.
