So one day I was out and about, walking along the King Shops in Waikoloa, Hawaii. I was looking at the shops when I heard these girls screaming and freaking out. I looked over, and one of the girls came running out of the Crazy Shirts store and asked me if I could help them get a dragonfly out of their store. Of course, I said. Dragonflies are magical. I know just what to do.
Let me say that a few years ago, I was at a friend’s house with a large yard and there were dragonflies everywhere. As they were buzzing about, she asked me if I knew that dragonflies are magical. Well, I believe a lot of things, and this was the first time I really considered that maybe there might be something to it. She told me that they can read your thoughts.
I decided to keep an open mind, so in my mind, I said, Dragonflies, come read my thoughts! Right then, a dragonfly buzzed up to my face and hovered just inches away. It was staring at me, face to face! I was thinking that this was really an amazing coincidence. I could even feel the little wind from the wings flapping in my face. We were having a stare down; I was totally absorbed in the moment. After a very long two minutes, he flew away. I was left in awe, wondering if that had really just happened.
My friend had seen the whole thing, so she said, See?!
Yes, I saw! She told me that befriending them brings good luck, and after that experience, I was ready to believe just about anything she said. Since then, whenever I encounter dragonflies, I am Mister Chatty Communicator!
So back to the story. I went into the store and found the dragonfly stuck in a corner, freaking out. It was trying to get out and buzzing like crazy. It was one of the biggest dragonflies I’ve ever seen too; big green eyes and huge wings.
I pulled up a chair and sat down – because I am a dragon fly whisperer! 😉 I told him that everything would be all right, and to trust me. It took some time, but eventually, I was able to talk him into getting into my hat so I could take him outside and free him. In Hawaii, I am learning and feeling how everything is sacred. Island gods are not to be taken lightly.
Everyone was happy; I had saved the day. As I started to walk away, I noticed something on the ground. Wait! It was a twenty dollar bill! Awesome! I scooped it up, only to realize that it was two twenty dollar bills! Alright! I stopped and smiled: dragonflies really are magical. Some of the people I spoke with were surprised I found some money. Many have worked in the area for years and never found anything, let alone two $20 dollar bills.
Coincidence? Not in Will’s world!
