Communicating with Animals After their Death

Animal communicators often tell people that it is possible to make contact with pets after the animals have passed on. Sonya Fitzpatrick writes, Generally, the essence of the animal’s personality while on earth remains around us so that we are able to contact them after their death. Many times they meet up with or even live with the souls of their human loved ones on the other side. They are always around and glad to be able to communicate their feelings with us.

Marta Williams offers an exercise for talking with a deceased pet and connecting with his spirit. She advises asking questions and listening to and trusting the answers you receive. You might ask what it is like where the animal resides now and whether or not the spirit intends to come back into another body.

Laura Scott, a writer and editor who has studied animal communication, wrote to us about an experience she had while contacting Reverend Jacquie Mace’s cat Sam. When Jacquie was agonizing over whether to have the fatally ill cat euthanized, Sam communicated to her via Laura. Sam said, I will always be with you, Jacquie. We are like a woven web. We can’t be separated. I will come back to you. Shadow will be my name. Bless you for the love you gave, the home you provided, the food, and the care. Whatever your decision is fine with me. My love will stay with you forever and always. Time does not exist. We’re connected and we’ll be together again very soon.

Later, after Sam’s death, Laura had the impression that the cat’s spirit wanted to give Jacquie another message. Laura quickly wrote down what she heard Sam communicate from the other side:

So much peace is here. I have a new spiritual body and can be anywhere I choose. We can choose from many jobs. Helping other animals across the threshold of transition is the job I will be doing. I was helped across by two other Sams! [Laura’s sister and a friend both had cats named Sam who had died previously.] We can never be separated. I am with you always. We are connected, entwined like a web, strongest at the heart center. Do not cry for me, as I am peaceful, happy, joyful, and free. The way I left you was a decision made by God, guiding you in your decisions and giving us time to say our goodbyes and acknowledge the love and learning we shared. You have so much love to give. Don’t say no to loving another animal. We have so much to share and teach you. And that animal might just be me, making my way back to you. Love never ends. Love never dies. Love is forever, infinite, everlasting. The web that connects us can never be broken and can only trap love and kindness in its net. Thank you for rescuing me all those years ago and for letting me give you the love you so richly deserve. God is blessing you now.

Try this Exercise:

Ask God, Spirit, Jesus, one of the heavenly protectors of animals, or your guardian angels to guide and connect you with an animal companion who has died. Fill your heart with love for this animal and visualize it. Ask whatever questions you would like answered at this time. Write down the thoughts, impressions, and images that come into your mind and touch your heart. Write quickly to bypass the mental censor. Later, contemplate and reflect upon what you have received. Decide if the communication rings true for you.
