This is a story about money and trusting the universe. A few days ago, my mom was trying to help me with an expense even though she really didn’t have the means to. We had made a plan to share the cost of my car payments so that she could use the car to take my nephews to school and their activities, as she and my dad have only one vehicle.
Times are really tight right now. I’m unemployed and I have a car I don’t drive since I live in a big city, so it seemed like the perfect solution and we were determined to make it happen. Mom wrote the check for $250, even though she didn’t have it, and posted it in the snail mail with a note that read: Please don’t cash until next week.
The very day that she wrote this faith check, my sister called with amazing news. My sister lives in our old hometown and somehow an elderly gentleman tracked her down at her work with an urgent message. It happens that this man, D. Johansen, shared the very same name as our deceased grandfather. Sometime a number of years back, he had received a deposit into his bank account that actually belonged to my grandfather. He didn’t report the error to the bank. It seems at the time he was really in need and the money came at just the right time. He kept it then, even though it wasn’t really intended for him. (Or was it?)
On the very day that my mother wrote that faith check, he chose to repay the money from that error from more than ten years before. He told my sister to please make sure my dad received the money, and that he was really sorry it had taken him so long to repay it. The amount of the check? $250.88!
This amazing sign was like a giant beacon of light for my entire family saying TRUST. Trust that money flows like a river and even when you feel like you have nothing, know that you are loved and supported by the universe and maybe even some doppelgängers sent by your loved ones on the other side.
