I am a 55-year-old Aquarian who has been happily married for 23 years. For the past month, a special girlfriend who died of leukemia 25 years ago has been trying to contact me. All of a sudden, I am dreaming of her and her voice is so real that it awakens me from my sleep. She is also popping into my head during my daily activities. What would she want to tell me after 25 years? Why didn't she try to contact me sooner? Please help.

Things like this occur more often than people might think. Loved ones who have moved on from here to the Spirit Plane often take years to recover from what happened to them during their lifetime on Earth. While it seems like a long time to us, twenty-five years could be but a blink of the eye to our loved ones beyond the Veil.
It's therefore not so unusual that an old girlfriend waited this long to contact you. Further, dying from a long, lingering illness can make it difficult for the Soul to reach out to the people it loved when it was living in the physical.
While it might be difficult (or seem silly) to contact other people who were close to her to tell them that she is coming through to you, if you can find the courage to do it, you should. Other people who loved her would welcome the news that she is able to come to you in dreams.
If they didn't have closure with her in their own relationships, you might be able to help them out. One reason she has chosen you over most of the other people she knew in life is because she knows you have a very sharp and clever mind (you Aquarians!), and that you will pay attention to the details of what she's telling you and showing you in these dreams.
Write down everything! Everything you can remember about these dreams could be important. Everything about the times she pops into your mind is important, too. Keep a little notebook with you so you can jot things down as they happen, and take it to bed with you at night.
Inform your wife of what is going on. Since she knows you better than anyone, she will understand what you're doing, but only if you let her in on it. She may even be able to help you decipher the messages coming through to you from this girl. She won't be jealous or upset, and you need her help to keep things straight. Since I know this is an emotional experience in addition to being really strange for you, you can rely on your wife to keep a clear head while this is going on.
Who knows what kind of process your old girlfriend had to go through in order to achieve any kind of communication with you? Perhaps when she was alive, she didn't believe in things of this nature, and it took her this long to realize that she can communicate with the living.
Maybe she was ashamed of her behavior when the two of you were together. Often our loved ones in Spirit simply want to apologize for some hurt they caused us while we were together here. Sometimes they just want to say they love us. Remain open to her communications. If it's important enough for her to try to get your attention, then it's important, period.

Our loved ones from the other side contact us when we are ready. It would seem that after all this time, you're finally open enough to realize that your lost love is reaching out to you, and able to acknowledge her spiritual presence.
Contacting the spirit world can be a fascinating process. Like our subconscious minds, old memories or messages can emerge years later or when they are least expected. There could be a number of reasons this contact has been delayed based on where both of you are in your lives. Regardless of the reason why it has taken so long, the important thing to realize is that the time has come for you two to reconnect.
The fact that she is a powerful force in your dreams, even to the point of waking you, suggests that she is trying hard to get through to you. That she is beginning to pop into your thoughts during the day definitely supports the idea that she has something important to convey.
To figure out what is going on, I recommend you set aside a special time to commune with her. If you have any pictures or belongings of hers, gather them together. Light a few white candles along with some lavender incense to create an atmosphere that will enable you to talk with her or channel her.
After sitting for a few minutes in silence, invite her in. Be open to hearing whatever she has to say. If nothing happens after 10 or 15 minutes, begin to write down, in as much detail as possible, the dreams you have been having of her. Include conversations you had in the dream, as well as where you were, what you were doing, and whether others were present. This is a great method for jogging your memory. It can also create an opening through which more information can rise into your consciousness.
It may be that she just wants to acknowledge you, the relationship you had, and the wonderful memories both of you still carry. If there were troubles between you that were unresolved at the time of her passing, she may want to make amends. Of course, when we carry unresolved issues or feelings from the past, memories like these tend to pop up out of the blue in order to be healed and released, but in your case, I agree that your friend is trying to contact you for a very important reason.
Try this method for three nights in a row. It usually takes a couple of tries before we are centered and open enough to begin channeling our loved ones from the other side. If after three attempts, you still feel that no conscious contact has been made, you may want to enlist the aid of a psychic channeler to speak with her directly so you can understand the reason for these visits.

Even though you hadn't read it yet, your SOUL recognized the title of that chapter as something it had been seeking, and your soul, knowing that you had that reference to read after your experience, got with it and out you went!
While I don't usually recommend her books, Sylvia Brown has a wide reaching and powerful effect on lots of people. A Gemini like you would be able to relate easily to her writing and put it to good use. Synchronicity - you gotta love it!
I like your description of "getting caught." That's exactly what it feels like, isn't it? One minute you're free and hovering above the room, and the next minute, ZAP! back down into your corporeal form you go!
As a little kid, I loved that "feeling of return." With practice, most of the time we can control that event, but sometimes, when our physical ears hear a distracting noise or something else occurs to knock us back into reality, back we go. With practice you will be able to control your return better.
I find it interesting that you were visiting your mother-in-law and not someone in your own genetic family. Evidently, you and your husband got married for reasons that are even deeper than love. His family's interest in "psychic stuff" will nurture your children in such matters and help them to grow into their own abilities.
You'll never have to be concerned that when your daughter visits them, she'll be discouraged from exploring her own psychic life and power. My parents encouraged me to develop my psychic senses in a time when it wasn't nice to even discuss such things in public. Heck, it's STILL not considered a great topic at the dinner table in some families!
Your kids will get to talk about it ALL and ask questions and read and study. This is going to give them such an edge in life! Talk with your husband about how you want to present this to your kiddos, so that you are united in your approach and ready to tell them their experiences are all natural and okay.
A word or two of warning: Geminis often have difficulty staying grounded in REAL LIFE. Don't get so strung out on your ASTRAL life that you neglect what you're doing here on Earth.
