Double Vision: Recurring Pregnancy Dream

I frequently dream of being pregnant and going into labor. I always see myself in the last stage of pregnancy and my mother taking me to the labor room. Nothing else happens. I am married with a two-year-old son. I'd love to have more babies, but not until he is three - that's for sure! I strongly feel that this dream is an important sign for me but I'm not sure what it means. I have it at least once a month. Please help me out.

Though you've become a wonderful mother, it's natural for you to have some dreams that don't seem to mirror your waking life. Fatigue can contribute to all sorts of recurring dreams. With a new child in the house - especially a first child - you're probably not getting enough sleep.

Often when we're experiencing the fatigue that arises from caring for a Small Fry, we'll have fitful, worrisome dreams. New mothers and fathers are naturally restless and a bit anxious. It would be interesting to find out if your husband is having strange recurring dreams lately too.

Dreams that involve pregnancy are some of the most common to recur.

It's fun and interesting to look up all the different possible meanings for pregnancy dreams. Here is a list I've kept (and keep adding to) for years. Perhaps one of these interpretations will strike you as apt.

*A new person is coming into your life who will change your views.
*A hidden family issue is about to be addressed or you will reveal a family secret to clear the air about a longstanding issue. A family problem will be resolved in a reasonable timeframe.
*You are changing to a new religion or faith, or you are coming to a new realization about your religious faith.
*You will embark on a new career.
*New financial or romantic opportunities are coming your way.
*An idea or plan you've been working on for a very long time will work out as you want it to.
*You will be pregnant and have a baby in the future, or you are pregnant now.
*You fear becoming pregnant and this is an anxiety dream.
*You wish to be pregnant again, so your subconscious is sending you wish fulfillment dreams.
*Your concept of happiness is changing. You are rejecting old values and de-cluttering your life to make way for a new life. The new you is the baby who is about to be born.
*The baby represents another person with whom you have control issues. As the mother, you are in control.

Some of the things in my list come from old-fashioned fortune telling, and some come from psychology, but in every single instance, CHANGE is the major issue. Your dream could fit any or many of those possibilities, but something around you is changing or the change you made in your life with your new baby has you dreaming of more.

Experience has taught me that when people dream of pregnancy, the change they undergo is always for the better, for it means more love and happiness is coming their way.

Susyn:

While dreams of pregnancy don't always indicate an actual birth, they do indicate new beginnings. What's interesting about your dreams is that they are always centered on going into labor as opposed to other stages of pregnancy or the moment of birth.

This suggests that you may be stuck in some type of cycle that is very labor-intensive but never seems to end in success. If you think about it, you may realize that some aspect of your life is going in circles. For example, if you labor to gain a promotion or recognition at work and none comes, or if you are trying to create more friendships in your life or break out of the isolation of being a stay at home mother, those frustrating endeavors could be causing these dreams.

Since your mother is always with you in these dreams, they might address some aspect of motherhood that you feel stuck in. They could also speak to issues you have with your own mother if that relationship is a difficult one.

Keep in mind that when a dream repeats itself, it is encouraging you to look at certain things. Once you do, the dreams should either subside or change considerably. You may want to take a quick review of any areas of your life that feel stagnant or repetitive so you can identify where change is needed.

There is another possibility to consider regarding this dream. Although you plan on having more children, you are trying to control the timeframe regarding when that happens. Perhaps the Universe is prompting you to consider becoming pregnant again soon even though it does not match the plans you've set for yourself.

You mentioned that you have this dream about once a month. If you begin a dream journal and record the dates when it recurs, you could discover that you normally have this dream when you are ovulating or right before your monthly period. If this turns out to be the case, the dream is definitely sending a message that your body is ready to become pregnant again.

Because you are physically controlling the timing with birth control or abstinence, your inner guidance may be asking you to change what you are doing in order to honor a higher plan. This may also explain why you always see yourself going into labor but do not give birth in the dream ñ you are already a future mother to a certain child, but that child hasn't been able to be born yet.

These dreams are trying to get you to pay attention and make a change, which means they are very important. Once you figure out what they are trying to tell you and respond accordingly, the dreams should cease.

Many times in life we hear, "You will always have what you NEED, but not necessarily what you WANT." Your spirit must have needed to experience the feeling of leaving your human body, and the suggestion in the next chapter of Sylvia Brown's book was all it took to get you there.

Even though you hadn't read it yet, your SOUL recognized the title of that chapter as something it had been seeking, and your soul, knowing that you had that reference to read after your experience, got with it and out you went!

While I don't usually recommend her books, Sylvia Brown has a wide reaching and powerful effect on lots of people. A Gemini like you would be able to relate easily to her writing and put it to good use. Synchronicity - you gotta love it!

I like your description of "getting caught." That's exactly what it feels like, isn't it? One minute you're free and hovering above the room, and the next minute, ZAP! back down into your corporeal form you go!

As a little kid, I loved that "feeling of return." With practice, most of the time we can control that event, but sometimes, when our physical ears hear a distracting noise or something else occurs to knock us back into reality, back we go. With practice you will be able to control your return better.

I find it interesting that you were visiting your mother-in-law and not someone in your own genetic family. Evidently, you and your husband got married for reasons that are even deeper than love. His family's interest in "psychic stuff" will nurture your children in such matters and help them to grow into their own abilities.

You'll never have to be concerned that when your daughter visits them, she'll be discouraged from exploring her own psychic life and power. My parents encouraged me to develop my psychic senses in a time when it wasn't nice to even discuss such things in public. Heck, it's STILL not considered a great topic at the dinner table in some families!

Your kids will get to talk about it ALL and ask questions and read and study. This is going to give them such an edge in life! Talk with your husband about how you want to present this to your kiddos, so that you are united in your approach and ready to tell them their experiences are all natural and okay.

A word or two of warning: Geminis often have difficulty staying grounded in REAL LIFE. Don't get so strung out on your ASTRAL life that you neglect what you're doing here on Earth.

You are at the beginning of a long journey to learn where your power really lies. Try to be patient with this process and take your time.
