Double Vision: Can I go back in time to change things?

pic-1-past-lives

Last weekend I watched a movie about traveling back in time to change events in order to prevent a tragedy. Do you believe this is possible? If so, how can we do it? Also, do you think that messing with destiny this way might cause even bigger problems? (That's what happened in the movie.) I mean, if we can create what we want in our lives now and in the future, why not the past?

Do I believe it's possible to go back in time to change events that have already happened? Of course it's possible! I don't personally know anyone who can do it, but given the limitless power of the human mind, anything is possible.

Would I advise anyone to learn how or try to do it? Absolutely not! I can't think of a more selfish, potentially catastrophic thing to do.

You might wish you could go back and change things that affected you, but you must realize that these things affected others around you as well. They even affected perfect strangers.

I often refer to the movie Bruce Almighty, in which Bruce thought it would be really fabulous if he could move the moon closer. (He thought that Jennifer Aniston's character would really like that, and he was right.) His plan worked and he got what he was trying to get. However, by moving the moon, he created catastrophic climate and weather changes that affected the whole world.

If you were to go back and change even ONE thing, it could potentially change EVERYTHING in the whole entire world, even if it was some little thing that you were sure couldn't possible really matter.

We also can't go into the future and directly manipulate how future events happen. We can ask for what we want, but often the manner in which what we want comes to us will be something we would NEVER expect.

If we had the potential to go into the future and fix things like we think they should be, we would probably make one big mess. The Universe/ God/ Spirit/ whatever name you use knows the best way to bring us what we want, and we're wise to respect that.

Our job is to decide WHAT we want and let the Universe handle the HOW. Also, we need to trust that when things from the past appear to be wrong, ultimately, they really are right in terms of what our souls came here to do in the first place.

We should not want to, try to, or figure out a way to fix the past any more than we should try to figure out how to manipulate the future. We need to just focus on what we want, have faith that we can get it, know that we deserve it, and then get ready to receive it. If we don't get it, we need to trust that it is for the best.

Besides, focusing on what you believe went wrong in the past is just going to bring more of that into your future, for what you think about is what you get. Period.

I don't know what movie you are referring to in your question, however I do believe that going back to change things could cause HUGE problems, and things could potentially get worse for you than they are right now.

I wish you peace with the past and the ability to manifest a wonderful future!

There was a book in the late sixties that was entitled Be Here Now by Ram Dass. It was a picture book with easy text. I reckon it was for the stoned hippie set who couldn't digest whole paragraphs at a time while tripping on acid, or something like that!

It's a great book if you can get your hands on it. At that time, time travel was something that people actually considered possible. Unfortunately, no one ever figured out how to do it, and I'm betting that's because it can't be done!

If given the opportunity, many of us would go back and make some changes that would affect our health, finances or love lives. We would change all the poor choices we made into good ones, and all the bad times into lovely memories.

As this would cause chaos throughout the world, the Divine has thoughtfully made it impossible. While we can sometimes access our past lives to learn about the lessons we were given in those incarnations, we live when we're living, right now in this moment. The Now is all we have.

Since nothing about the past can be changed, rehashing or trying to change what happened to us is just a big waste of time. There isn't any time travel trick or magic boat that can transport us back to earlier times in this life, to past lives, or to other points in history.

No matter how many times we may tell ourselves we could have made different decisions, that things COULD have been different if only we had done this or that, it won't change a thing.

My clients waste more time in chat talking about what happened to land them in their present circumstances, when instead, they should focus on what they want and how great things could be if they simply started to make good choices from this moment on.

I try to focus on what is happening to them now and in the future, and point out how they can fulfill their dreams if they do the right thing and create the right atmosphere for the kinds of changes they want to see in their lives.

For many, however, this is just not something they care to see. I guess maybe they think that by going over and over the minute details of past mistakes, somehow their present realities will change.

Some people simply don't want to move on enough to stop going over and over the past, especially in terms of how they've been treated by others. It's really sad how many hours and days they waste focusing on something that can never be changed, as it just tends to make them feel hopeless and helpless.

It's fine for a movie or a television program to present romantic notions about what could happen if only someone could change this or that about the past, but this idea is nothing more than a fantasy.

My advice to you is to BE HERE NOW.

Many times in life we hear, "You will always have what you NEED, but not necessarily what you WANT." Your spirit must have needed to experience the feeling of leaving your human body, and the suggestion in the next chapter of Sylvia Brown's book was all it took to get you there.

Even though you hadn't read it yet, your SOUL recognized the title of that chapter as something it had been seeking, and your soul, knowing that you had that reference to read after your experience, got with it and out you went!

While I don't usually recommend her books, Sylvia Brown has a wide reaching and powerful effect on lots of people. A Gemini like you would be able to relate easily to her writing and put it to good use. Synchronicity - you gotta love it!

I like your description of "getting caught." That's exactly what it feels like, isn't it? One minute you're free and hovering above the room, and the next minute, ZAP! back down into your corporeal form you go!

As a little kid, I loved that "feeling of return." With practice, most of the time we can control that event, but sometimes, when our physical ears hear a distracting noise or something else occurs to knock us back into reality, back we go. With practice you will be able to control your return better.

I find it interesting that you were visiting your mother-in-law and not someone in your own genetic family. Evidently, you and your husband got married for reasons that are even deeper than love. His family's interest in "psychic stuff" will nurture your children in such matters and help them to grow into their own abilities.

You'll never have to be concerned that when your daughter visits them, she'll be discouraged from exploring her own psychic life and power. My parents encouraged me to develop my psychic senses in a time when it wasn't nice to even discuss such things in public. Heck, it's STILL not considered a great topic at the dinner table in some families!

Your kids will get to talk about it ALL and ask questions and read and study. This is going to give them such an edge in life! Talk with your husband about how you want to present this to your kiddos, so that you are united in your approach and ready to tell them their experiences are all natural and okay.

A word or two of warning: Geminis often have difficulty staying grounded in REAL LIFE. Don't get so strung out on your ASTRAL life that you neglect what you're doing here on Earth.

You are at the beginning of a long journey to learn where your power really lies. Try to be patient with this process and take your time.
