- Daily Inspirational Message for December 4, 2013
Life is supposed to feel good to you. You’re not here to endure trials and tribulations in order to find out how tough you really are so that you can buck up and be brave in the face of windy weather.
This morning while driving, I heard the old tune Feeling Groovy by Simon and Garfunkel, and all of a sudden it hit me that I haven’t felt really groovy in a very long time. As I listened, I remembered many days in the past when I felt wholly in love with life, like the world was a magical, beautiful and wonderful place to be. For a moment, I decided that decades ago, people probably felt a lot better a lot more of the time than they do today because life was simpler and less stressful, but then it hit me: life is the same – it is individual people who change. If we want to feel good, we have to allow ourselves to feel good, expect to feel good, and look for reasons to feel good. Feeling great is an art form we can master: If we view life as an ordeal, then that’s how it will feel; if we view it as a delightful adventure, we end up feeling groovy, and embracing whatever life sends our way.
- Kajama Digest for the Week of December 2 through 8, 2013
Three planetary events will set the stage for the holiday season this week, and together, they hold the promise of greater balance, hope and harmony throughout the remainder of 2013. Monday’s Sagittarius new Moon will kick off the party by turning our attention to the fun-loving nature of this sign. We’ll begin to entertain and socialize more over the coming weeks, so this new Moon makes this the perfect time to look for a new outfit, try out a new haircut, or send out holiday invitations. On Wednesday, Mercury will join the party when it dances into Sagittarius. While the planet of communication has a great time in this sign, we’ll need to be on the lookout for exaggeration and the temptation to make promises we can’t keep. Though we may get caught up in the spirit of fun, the choices we make now could come back to haunt us once the last of the holiday decorations have been taken down and packed away. Mars will take up residence in Libra on Saturday, where it will remain until July 24, 2014. This extended visit in the sign of partnership will generate the ideal atmosphere for us to work on key relationships through the middle of next year. Now that the holidays are upon us, things could get a bit hectic this week, but thanks to these three stabilizing changes in the heavens, December could prove to be our most joyous month of the year.
Trusting and Developing Your Intuition
by Jim Tolles
“Before you start trying to intuit major life changes, start simply. Start with getting a sense of what your body wants for dinner, or let yourself just drive by intuition and see where you end up. Practice on small issues, like which chores are most necessary to do around the house, and see what it feels like when you do those first. Do you feel more open and relaxed? There are all sorts of simple ways to play with intuition and keep it in a relaxed and easy space. That’s when we’re best able to hear our intuitions the clearest.”
Transcending Difficult Emotions
by Jim Tolles
“Sadness is met the same way as the other emotions; you look at it. You sit with it. You listen to its story. Using the metaphor of sitting with a sick child works well here. Your awareness is so strong that the child immediately starts to heal as you sit with it in a non-reactive space. This can be intensely uncomfortable, however. The child may be screaming, snotting, and puking, and this is where we all learn how messy the spiritual path can get. But it does pass, and as you develop the inner fortitude to be with these messy emotions, you are also building up a greater capacity of patience and tenacity to be with whatever the outer world sends your way.”
Letting Go of the Results
by Jim Tolles
“This is how the spiritual path is. It is constantly evolving and changing, so holding onto the results we think we want simply becomes a futile absurdity. We have to have faith because there is so little we can ever fully know about the vastness of creation. In this humility, we embrace each moment with conscious dedication, and when the winds of change shift as they like to, we can change our sails to embrace this new opportunity and let go of the original destination. In so doing, we have space for something potentially more true for our paths to appear than perhaps we had originally imagined.”
